Tried to watch baseball but it was just too weird.

The cardboard fan cutouts in the stands behind home plate.

The piped-in crowd noise.

The empty seats in view when the field of play on camera expanded to cover the action.

It’s the new abnormal.

Haven’t read anything negative about it.

Guess it’s because people want to feel normal during the new abnormal.

And normal is baseball being played at the end of July, no matter how strange it appears in its current form.

The new abnormal still includes walking our dogs without masks (on the dogs).

Guess that’s a good thing.

Home project action is crazy underway during the new abnormal.

People still need curb appeal for their homes and so repairs and projects are a given.

Office chair resales are up during the push to work at home that has occurred during the new abnormal.

Dogs are largely unaffected during the new abnormal. They still want their walks and still want to be fed.

If salons again close, how will people look good during all their video calls?

My masks continue to fog up my glasses when walking in air-conditioned spaces like grocery stores during the new abnormal’s first summer.

Fauci says the virus will never be eradicated.

Guess that’s a form of hope if we want to endure annual vaccines for it like we do regular influenza.

Linux has quietly crept up on Apple and Microsoft during the new abnormal. Can’t say that it’s not intuitive or user friendly anymore. Plus, you have so much choice of different operating systems and software to choose from–unlike Macs and Windows PCs.

I still use a wall calendar as I navigate the new abnormal. I’m as tech-inclined as the next person but talk to me when your eyes are as old as mine. No screen in existence beats reading off paper.

The kind of baseball being played now should be called virtual baseball, as in almost baseball, but not quite there.

I’m sorry, but team sports without fans in the stands are no more than glorified practice sessions. Even exhibition games a la normal spring training ones have spectators, or should I have said had spectators.

Grilling out in the new abnormal is sort of the same as it’s always been.

Haven’t seen a paperboy riding a bike as he performed his delivery duties in quite some time. This has nothing to do with the new abnormal. I just wanted to throw it out there in case somebody finds it adds value.

It is debatable that writing sentences with the word paperboy in them add value, but I’m thinking it does in a new abnormal kind of way.

A picture is no longer worth a thousand words in the new abnormal. I want to say it’s worth possibly up to 500 words now. I have taken no polls or surveys to arrive at this figure. It is only my best guestimate.

You don’t have to be ugly to wear a mask in the new abnormal.

During the new abnormal, campers and RVs are the undisputed preferred modes of both transportation and lodging to baseball fans who want to get as close to the empty stadium action as possible.
