As we traverse the last day after the typical last day of February (except during leap years), I ruminate on all things top of mind.

The snow flakes I walked through last night with my wife on our way back from dinner were just wonderful. I was going to say amazing, which they were, but I understand some people have a problem with overuse of that word. But, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead; the snow and the size of the flakes falling down was nothing short of amazing, thank you very much.

There were some flakes hanging around on the grass this morning as we walked our dogs. Other than that, and sadly, you would not have known it had snowed last night. Having lived in Colorado almost 30 years I had come to take snow for granted. Living in the great town of Louisville, KY has renewed my awe and fascination with snowfall as it is quite rare by comparison here, and yes, it is amazing when it happens–especially the big flake kind.

If anything can make adults who grew up in four-season climates think of their childhoods, it’s snowfall.

I remember when a competitive edge in business meant employees figuring out and using all the features in the software they have on their computers. If you don’t use most of the features of any given application, perhaps you should consider using software less full-featured and most likely less expensive, too.

It’s supposed to be 60 degrees tomorrow and as weather is quite interesting this time of year pretty much everywhere, I’ll just say that strangely enough I’m getting used to the wild weather fluctuations. An added bonus of these fluctuating weather scenarios is that they are quite relaxing compared to the tripe that constitutes headline news these days.

Blogging, like rock ‘n’ roll, will never die.

I read recently of how the traditional network format sitcom (Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld, Modern Family, How I met your third cousin, mother, whatever, etc.) may no longer be produced at the levels they once were, if at all. As someone who struggles to laugh whenever I see anything that’s supposed to be funny on network television, I fail to see how this potential kibosh to sitcom development is hindering the advancement of mankind. Sometimes there comes a time for something new.

I haven’t jumped let alone leaped yet today. Today is leap day and the only thing I suppose I’m leaping is from item to item in this piece.

I avoid any mention of politics here today. While this is not news, I trust that like me you find this refreshing.

The Yankees lost pitcher Luis Severino for the season due to Tommy John surgery. I’m thinking that for all of the negative implications this development may have on the Yankees’ chances of winning the World Series this year, it also makes one less Major League pitcher available to throw at the Houston Astros.

Space heaters are not quite as invaluable as air conditioners when it comes to their respective functions, but I’m really glad I have one.
