When working or even just walking in the backyard, there is an indispensable resource one should avail themselves of, but for a variety of reasons, most of us likely never have occasion to.
I’m talking about the little-known life hack that is doody shoes.
I love how the big sneaker manufacturers make gym shoes for any number of athletic specialties. There are running shoes. And there are basketball shoes. Of course, there are also tennis shoes. And who could forget walking shoes?
I know I’ve missed some kind of shoe. If you ask me, one of the types that the manufacturers should get educated on is the kinds of shoes I will put on after this post is over. Perhaps I’ll put them on before that and use them for a short walk in the backyard.
Short walks in the back yard are really all I can take, as it is not a particularly large yard to begin with. The walks can be long, however, when I decide to walk in circles until I’m dizzy. Luckily, this does not happen too often. But I digress.
What I’m suggesting shoe designers seriously consider coming up with are the wonderful specialty design-force-in-the-making that are doody shoes.
Doody shoes–useful commonality or urban myth?
My doody shoes are an old pair of LL Bean deck shoes I’ve had for as long as I can remember. I repurposed them specifically for all things doody when the soles became worn out to the point of losing their nubbies, becoming mostly smooth and nubby-free. There are still some grooves in the soles, but that’s probably not a factor regarding the shoes’ effectiveness one way or the other.
My doody shoes have even survived a chew off by my girl dog that left a breathable hole. This actually contributed to better airflow for the doody shoes.
Blog breaking in doody shoes
I took a break from this post and just came back. I actually put on my doody shoes to have more appropriate footwear in which to fix the bicycle rack in the garage. My sandals were temporarily discarded while I effected repairs on said rack to rehang the bicycle.
Afterward, instead of making a pass at any doodies the dogs may have left as presents, I retired to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich. On the way, I stepped out of the doody shoes and back into the sandals.
Doody shoes are great for taking care of the doodies that you want to be gone. I suppose one should want all doodies gone, and I do myself. However, whatever doodies may be present are sometimes not quite as high of a priority as a sandwich of turkey and cheddar that needs crafting.
Another distraction to my completing this missive in a timely fashion is that my boy dog was eating rabbit doodies. I know, it’s kind of gross, but he loves them. For just a little bit I felt bad for not scouring the yard for rabbit doodies and dog doodies. It’s a good thing he doesn’t eat dog doody. His adopted sister used to eat her doody, but has since become a more refined dining dog.
I’m still in doody shoes as I wind down this post. My doody shoes are flat and smooth. They are conducive to flattening any doody I might step in to not become enmeshed in the soles. I think that’s one of the things about doody shoes that I like so much.
Much like a spatula to a hamburger patty, good doody shoes will leave those flattened patties you’ve stepped in that much flatter and ready for easy scooping into doody bags.
So, thanks for stopping by for the kind of doody, I mean, prose, that you just can’t find anywhere else.
And don’t forget to get yourself some doody shoes, too, so you can always hit the sweet spot just right.
