When it comes to writing in WordPress, I enjoy the occasional blank slate.

So the block editor is for blockheads.

It compartmentalizes every paragraph I compose.

It is hardly a canvas, and that is what I require.

I need a blank canvas for writing instead of a series of rectangles where I place words.

Switching back and forth from the WordPress classic editor and block editor causes problems, too.

So, today I’m sticking in the classic editor.

Cold day

Today is the first actual cold day of the season. It’s in the 30s.

The wind is a little gusty, and that, of course, makes it feel colder.

The natural feel or whatever the weather forecasters call it is most likely considerably colder.

The pseudo feel, however, is unknown.

Dog Walk

We took the dogs on a long walk earlier, and there were hardly any other people or dogs.

Having the walks to ourselves is pretty much the way we like it.

Yadi had a lot of pep in his step and was not noticeably limping either.

He’s learned not to jump off of everything so hard that he continuously re-injures his bad wheel.

Football Sunday

It’s a perfect day for football, except our Bears have a bye week.

We’ll probably tune in for Aaron Rodgers versus Russell Wilson. Err, I mean the Packers against the Seahawks later.

The Packers are probably favored, but since we’re Bears fans, we can’t stand Rodgers and the Pack; call us sore losers every time the Packers play the Bears.

They’ll be other games on, too, and we’ll watch parts of others, I’m sure.

Printers

Have you noticed your printer does not receive much use these days?

Everything is digital now, and the need for hard copy printouts has dwindled to next to nothing.

It’s a sign of the times, I suppose.

I want a digital body to replace my banged-up and worn-down body, kind of like how .pdfs have replaced hard copy printouts.

We’ll see if I live long enough for science to make it happen.

The Cabinet door won’t stay closed

Old cabinet doors sometimes won’t stay closed.

What to do?

Get a Phillips screwdriver and tighten up the hinges.

That did it for me.

I don’t know why I took so long to do it, but at least we’re back in business now.

Don’t overpack your freezer

Last night while trying to pull out the dogs’ protein of choice (ground turkey), a small pyrex container fell out and broke open on the floor–shattering glass in a 4-foot radius.

Glass containers in a freezer are like Clark Griswold’s sled in Christmas vacation: they will slide more rapidly than your ability to control them will allow.

I think there was bolognese sauce in there; the disk of frozen meat sauce was salvageable. So I transferred it to another Pyrex container and (hopefully) situated it on a more stable area of the freezer shelf.

Then I swept up the more enormous shards of glass with a broom and dustpan.

Finally, it was time to employ our 30+-year-old Kenmore canister vacuum cleaner.

The mission appeared accomplished.

However, something whispered to me to vacuum the window shelf (over the washer and dryer) of the dead bug carcasses of years killed past.

I know it sounds gross.

I realize this wasn’t pretty.

But it’s blessedly over with now.

Thank you.
