Taking a look around the back yard I realized the grass needed mowing three days ago, not in and of itself a bad thing, just one of those deals where I was going to have to wait until the grass was dry enough so it wouldn’t clump all up as I mowed, looking like Soldier Field in December.
These are the kinds of things one thinks about if he’s lucky enough to be on his first staycation ever with Uncle Covid.
There’s a lot to consider. I had to bring myself not to rent an RV for the entire two weeks and tour all the new drive-in theaters that have cropped up in neighboring states.
I also had to decide if I was going to have to not get so sleepy watching my wife enjoy her woodworking hobby that I would not get through an entire piece here in one sitting before collapsing into prolonged, extended snoring.
I did find early motivation with the drop cap feature in the new WordPress block editor. Watching the text wrap around the big letter T above was like a glass of morning orange juice to start the day–not too intimidating, and with a delightful finish that promises something good thereafter.
Big Dawg was now the next problem for me when it comes to maintaining consciousness as I blog.
It’s not as if I’m bored writing. It’s just that between my wife running the electric saw (she currently has more than one in her possession) and Big Dawg lounging comfortably on the love seat, I wonder if I will soon surrender to the sleep siren’s call.
Just when I think napping is near, Big Dawg throws me a bone and gets off the love seat, opting for the welcome mat in the shade at the base of the steps.
Not only does he know well enough to get in out of the rain, but he also knows when to get in out of the sun.
He easily remains the most weather aware dog ever. Not even close.
Fan noise is deafening
“Listen to that crowd!”
C’mon. If you watched football with anyone, you said that at least once, or at least resisted the urge to say it.
Fake football crowd noise is easier to take than fake baseball crowd noise for some reason.
I was told I should be happy that we can watch baseball and football on TV. I am happy about that, just not thrilled with the fake crowd noise.
I’d like to write here about the benefit of baseball and football without crowd noise.
I like hearing the attempt at distraction that are linemen yelling at the top of their lungs while the kicker is swinging his foot mightily at the ball during a field goal try.
I’d also like to hear opposing dugouts in baseball sing the “We want a pitcher not a belly itcher” chant at the pitcher while he stares down the batter in the box.
So, what is it
Those who detonate the box and not those who think outside of it stand to acquire the biggest gains during this period.
Creativity is the first thing that is required to make inroads and innovate during a time when everything appears in a downward skid.
Can you make someone laugh?
I’ve tried to here.
Can you be the kind of person that can put aside the headlines and figure out where a need exists and then fill it?
Can you apply your creativity and some business sense to the situation and paint in broad strokes?
These types of actions are catalysts for change.
And they are prime for the taking.
Right now.
By you.
