Slowly but surely, my old computer hardware is reaching the end of its life.
My fleet of computers is being kicked to the curb, whether it’s an old Apple Mac, Microsoft Surface, or Samsung Chromebook.
It has been a good number of years I have used all of these tools.
The Mac and Surface are practically retired, and the Chromebook is losing support for OS updates and security patches as of June 2022.
There is nothing you can do to block or thwart the force that is progress.
I used to say planned obsolescence a lot, but this is really beyond the point of that being an apt characterization.
To continue to run any of them much longer would be an invitation to be hacked.
Sadly, the only hacking I will tolerate at this point is some coughs when I’m experiencing foul winds.
I have an old Asus laptop running Windows 10 that I’ll fire up and update in favor of the Chromebook.
I’ll keep using the Chromebook until June, though, as its relatively small footprint makes it more portable than the Asus (built like a tank, more extensive, and heavier than the Chromebook).
I do like Chromebooks since most of the world gets work done online.
The need to be online was a knock on Chromebooks. But, everyone is online, even if it’s just for typing in Microsoft Word.
Weather is nice
Hopefully, everyone can enjoy the great weather we have had this week.
Once spring nears, it reminds us we live in the Ohio River valley.
The number of times I sneeze has increased.
But that does not deter me from getting out on the patio and back yard.
Just being able to have some good weather makes me that much more grateful for life.
As they say, tomorrow is not guaranteed.
So, why not make today the best that it can be.
Time, our most precious resource
If you could have more money, good looks or more time, which would you choose?
I would easily take more time over more money and good looks.
I recognize some people feel you can never have enough time, money, or good looks, but there isn’t anything more to concern yourself with once your time is up.
So, if I have just enough money and am somewhat attractive, I can get by until my time runs out.
Brady is back
I think I called Tom Brady’s return a few posts ago.
Brady is good for football.
We find ourselves rooting for him, or at least fans of certain vintages do.
Talking about time, Father Time typically decides when it is time for someone to hang up their cleats.
Brady had a great season last year, coming up just short.
Statistically, he was about as good as there was.
He and the Buccaneers couldn’t get over the hump against Matthew Stafford and the Rams.
Some may feel that the Rams are better positioned for success this coming season.
I’m not one of them.
Brady will help recruit to fill the inadequacies on the Bucs roster.
And they will be contenders again next season.
The Rams might be, too, but when push comes to shove, I’m smart enough to realize it’s hard to make a living betting against Tom Brady.
Heed the read.
