It’s Super Bowl Sunday which means tomorrow will feature many scheduled and unscheduled absences at various places of employment, while today brings the game of course, in addition to large swaths of mindless, traditional pre-game entertainment.

There is an old argument that the game should be held on Saturday night to prevent fans from taking time off on Mondays.

I’m pretty sure studies have proven overall viewing numbers are greater where it is on Sundays than it would be if the game was held on Saturday.

It all comes down to money, right?

The storyline for the actual game is interesting enough.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs versus Tom Brady and the Bucs.

I’ll be rooting for the old guy. Mahomes will have more chances.

But if I had to bet, my money would be on the Chiefs, depleted offensive line notwithstanding.

I’ll be happy if it’s a good game. That’s the most important thing. Oh, except Tom Brady winning one more after leaving the Patriots would be sweet.

It’s cold

It wouldn’t be a Sunday piece without mentioning the weather.

This week we’re expecting the Polar Express, Vortex, or Bear to come down from the north and affect us, the lower 48, in a bitterly cold way.

Winter is here perhaps a little late, but it is here.

We didn’t have enough that it required shoveling the sidewalk. Oh, bummer.

Did you ever notice a blue sky with a little snow on the ground that looks vividly, brilliantly bluer? I have.

Here’s hoping the sky in Tampa will be tropical and blue.

Will we get the laundry done by game time?

You can bet on a lot of things, but one of them is not found on popular gaming sites.

I’m thinking of setting an over-under on the time when we’ll be done with it all. My only problem is that I used the word over-under but was not really prepared to relate to what that means. We have minors visiting this site so I will stop writing about this effective immediately.

I am segueing away from the wagering bit and just throwing out there that if you have a dryer that likes to perform differently depending on the day of the week, it could be entertaining to just play for fun about what time I will be done with it.

It could go long like one of Mahomes’ passes.

It could be shorter like one of Brady’s.

Or it could be the other way around since both are capable of long pass completions.

Windows for the longevity win

What would a Superbowl Sunday be without a little Mac vs. PC banter?

Fanboys may unreasonably want to argue otherwise, but a Mac can only be expected to run the most current Apple macOS out there anywhere from about 5-1/2 to 7-1/2 years, or thereabouts.

I know Apple aficionados consider this evidence that the company pays attention to value and compatibility over time.

But Microsoft Windows 10 blows it out of the water. Read about that here.

Microsoft does not cut off PCs at 5, 6, 7, or more years of the latest Windows 10 release out there. If you have an old PC, but it has enough memory, processor, and graphics capabilities, it will run the latest version of Windows 10 just fine. At some point, your older Mac may still have enough resources hardware-wise to run Apple’s latest operating system, but Apple will say it’s too old and cut it off.

That’s Apple’s way of saying you need to buy a new mac.

Microsoft doesn’t do that and this is one of the prime reasons they won the desktop computing wars ages ago.

Enjoy the game!
