Today is Wife Appreciation Day and I’m thinking this should be a daily holiday rather than an annual one, for obvious reasons.

There is a lot going on along with this fabulous unofficial holiday, especially in the world of sports.

Andy Dalton was just injured on a running play. Looks like he jammed his ankle going out of bounds.

In comes Justin Fields who hands off to David Montgomery, who comes up a little short of the first down marker. Fields tries a quarterback sneak that fails and the Bears turn the ball over on downs to the Bengals.

Dalton is looking alright now, taking practice snaps on the sideline. Eventually, though, he goes into the locker room. We’ll see if Fields or Dalton starts the second half.

I love Joe Burrow. I’m eyeing him for great things as long as he stays healthy. Hoping he can remain upright all season long. Long-suffering Bengals fans finally have a true franchise quarterback and should be excited about the future for the first time in a long while.

This looks like it’ll be a close game and I may or may not get back to any more here on it. But, let’s just see what the next hour to two brings.

Speaking of good times for teams, the St. Louis Cardinals went on a tear since my highly appreciated wife and I saw them play a couple games recently.

The Cardinals control their own destiny regarding the wild card. The Brewers are about to clinch the division (if they haven’t already). The Cards play the Brew Crew in several games the remainder of the season.

This is sure to be an exciting finish to the season and the wild card teams, especially–the Cardinals included.

Will they hold on to their tenuous lead and play the Brewers well? We’re about to find out.

I did check on the Yankees and they are still in the hunt for one of the wild card spots in the American League.

I am excited about the Cardinals’ prospects, but the Yankees are just not a good team. They are too streaky, one dimensional, lack starting pitching, and their hitters fail all too often in the clutch.

Headed for the finish line

Just when it seems this post is heating up, we’ve rounded second base and are headed for home plate.

It’s halftime in Jacksonville where the Broncos are leading the Jags 10-7.

I just saw a commercial about the “Shaq-a-roni” pizza offered by Domino’s now. It looks really good, even after helping polish off a plate of nachos prepared by my much appreciated wife.

I’m feeling very torn between breaking this off and continuing in a 2-part series of blog posts so I can weigh in on the Cardinals game today against the Padres as well as the completion of the Broncos and Bears’ games.

Looks like Dalton has an injured knee and Fields will start the second half.

Teddy Bridgewater is the man in Denver.

The Bears get a good run back just past the 20 yard line on the second half opening kickoff.

Football, baseball and wife appreciation day–what else do you need to do?

Time to enjoy the rest of the day and bid you all adieu.

GO Bears, Broncos and Cardinals.

Wishing a great day with lots of appreciation to all the wives out there in reader land.
