They say that starting something is easier than finishing.

I wonder why that is.

When it comes to writing it’s usually harder to start than to finish.

That’s because when I’m running out of thoughts for any one particular piece I can just end it. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time you read something with a crappy or disappointing ending.

Honestly? The majority of what substitutes for news stories these days have lousy endings. Most of the time they are ended for space considerations (e.g. more room is needed for online advertising, article length is consequently shortened and overall quality resultingly suffers).

I’m glad I can offer content here free of subscription fees. I’m grateful for and appreciate having a voice and do still have a sign-up page for this blog.

At the end of the day, however, it is way easier to just remember bobskelley.com. That’s all you need to know how to type in your URL address space at the top of your browser.

If you actually sign up to be notified of new posts, I do appreciate that and I understand that is the fastest way to be notified of new posts as they are published.

Since this blog has existed since April of 2012, there is a lot of content here, featuring hundreds of posts. Unless you’re someone who signed up early on there probably is not any chance of you exhausting content here anytime soon.

As I enjoy it, I’ll keep adding to this library of content. I’m just not adding to it as often as I used to.

That’s alright.

I suppose it’s part of slowing down and enjoying the smell of things.

And I know some things don’t smell as nice as others.

Some things I think lately…

I’ve always been apolitical but do wonder how President Trump can continue to self-sabotage with what I like to call his Tweeting to exhaustion. If he can not demonstrate any self-discipline at this point with his self-destructive Tweeting, how can he realistically expect to win re-election come November? The other nations of the world have to be noting his propensity for this behavior and while Joe Biden is not thrilling anyone to the finish line, he at least has a filter (or his handlers, unlike Trump’s, can keep him from going off the rails daily).

All sports should just agree to shut down until player health and safety can be assured. Period. We should not wait until a player gets sick and dies before we do what most of us already know is the right thing to do: shut the games down. Instead of falling into worse health by eating nachos and drinking beer on the couch, maybe we can get some exercise on NFL Sundays. If we must get our junk food and drink on, consider having a junior-sized portion of nachos with only a couple of zero-calorie beers. I know, what a concept!

Summer’s a week old and I’m already pining for the fall. Just imagine how much more unrest we’d have if many of us did not have air conditioning (the greatest invention of the 20th century, mind you) to escape to.

When it’s hot out people get uncomfortable, irritated and tempers flare. No hidden meanings or agendas there, folks. Just saying.

It is spoken a lot these days that we will all get through this together.

I mostly agree except for the fact that those who have already left the planet due to COVID-19 complications will not.

To help ensure a few more of us will get through this together, we all (myself included) need to do a better job at wearing masks.

I know they’re not entirely comfortable, but that’s life.

And as many of us remaining healthy as possible is not only a good start but ultimately a preferred finish to a journey none of us individually should ever endeavor to partake alone.
