It’s a good day in the neighborhood when you can be away from things for a time being, revisit them when you least expect, and have the outcome of it all be at least as good or better than if you had planned it.
Chew on that for awhile.
It’s not supposed to mean anything on the surface, like someone who listens to a song on the radio, has heard the artist before, and just wants to know what the heck it was the artist meant when he sang any of the lyrics. Planning can sometimes be overrated.
Why does doing something have to have a distinct reason for existing or some such significance, especially an artist, when they’re formulating the lyrics of a new song?
The fact of the matter is they do not need to have reasons for coming up with the lyrics they have. Nor does the song have to have any particular meaning.
Some things like listening to music are a naturally-occurring activity.
You don’t have to have a reason for most things. If you want to do it, somehow, some way, I’m pretty sure you are just going to find a way.
Some of the best songs ever written started out as poems.
Willie Nelson’s compositions, even the best ones, began their existence as poems.
Some artists have the melody first.
Not that I’m comparable to Willie Nelson, but most, if not all of my songs were written down first. I put music to them after I already had lyrics to work with.
When you’re on vacation, and not staycation, the newness of everything is what helps rejuvenate you.
A staycation should be just rest and relaxation, but it often turns into more work than relaxation.
If you’re away from home, doing things that you don’t normally do, like listening to an audio book, your body is learning to love something new.
Learning something new should be part of any good vacation.
Experiencing something out of the ordinary, or routine, should be part of any good vacation.
For example, I never thought having lunch atop downtown Pittsburgh would be great fun. But it was!
We took the tram, which was a bit too creaky-sounding for my liking, all the way to the top.
We exited the ancient transportation mode and went out in search of lunch.
I thought of how our ancestors needed to hunt for lunch first.
We just needed to scope the restaurants out nearby and make a decision on which one we wanted to try.
Easy peasy.
And yes, it was just simple like that.
My wife helped me with typing peasy just before instead of peazy with a z.
She answered that was how she would do it.
I do not proclaim myself an expert when it comes to spelling and grammar.
I did get bored with Grammarly as it appears to be an app that wants everyone writing the same way. But, I digress.
My wife and I were both on staycation and I figured collaborating with my better half on anything, writing-related or otherwise is never a bad thing.
It’s also one of the things I learned today.
