The ginger cream bar promised a smile and delivered.

It also administered a good crashing down.

How is it that something so sweet, so refreshing, so light, airy and fluffy can produce the other side of the coin that features the necessity for a nap.

I had other things in mind for the ginger cream bar, however. Namely, completing the task of finishing off a piece of…blogging.

It gets more difficult with the passage of time to complete things we start.

Blogging can be one of them.

When you’re younger you don’t consider the impact that fatigue can bring. I suppose that’s because when you’re young, you don’t fatigue as easily.

I wrestled with many things yesterday.

I was supposed to be writing this then.

But the leaf blower had other designs on my energy.

Yesterday, it was there to represent energy zapper extraordinaire.

It was cold yesterday.

And there were also a lot of leaves on the ground that needed dealing with.

How best do you deal with leaves?

Well, with a leaf blower of course.

A leaf blower that fires up within the first 10 pulls is my preference.

Many factors were contributing to my not pulling this feat off.

The blower had not been started in quite some time.

The gas line was replaced earlier in the year and it could still be a little challenging to get gas flowing through the line.

Priming the pump was tricky as the blower floods easily.

After struggling with it for about a 100 pulls and 20-30 minutes of my time (with a couple breaks to rest my pulling muscles), it finally started and stayed on.

I blew those leaves right into kingdom come.

They didn’t stand a chance.

Neither did the fuel mixture in the tank which I ran down and needed to replenish before completing the job.

Mission accomplished.

All I had the energy for after that was dinner.

A little wine and some baked ziti would replenish me.

But not enough to blog. By this time it was early evening. It was Friday night and I proudly made it to 8 o’clock before announcing to the wife and dogs I was going to lay down and sleep.

Which I did.

The day is done.

Today was another project that involved the washer machine exit hose and the water seepage from the overflow pipe that landed on the floor.

There was a flapper on the backwater valve that needed replacing.

I went to one hardware store.

Then another.

Then a plumbing supply store.

None of these places had the particular plumbing supply I needed.

I found it online.

Ah, the glorious 20th-century invention that contains the whereabouts of all ancient plumbing supply parts that heretofore forever are remanufactured.

It was only found in one location.

But I needed it.

So, I ordered it.

And it was not in stock.

It will ship immediately after it is in stock.

Until then the water will continue to overflow the PVC riser that the washer’s drain outlet hose feeds.

Oh yeah, I did snake the lines yesterday thinking there was a blockage of some kind that was at the root cause of these waterfall problems. If there was one that I freed, it still did not provide any leakage relief. That would only come from replacing the backwater valve flapper.

The ginger cream bar once again reared its pretty head and reminded me just now that it is a bar unlike any other.

It’s most frequent patrons include one said individual that goes by the name of Sand Man.

I have had the last laugh here, though, as with most of my pieces, I know when I’m just about to overstay my leave.

So I must take it immediately like the plumbing supply part that will ship once in stock and consider indulging in yet one more ginger cream bar before showering and assuming the position that is napping.
