If your recliner’s seat is too narrow, you have to place your elbows on the arms, or worse, if you’re not entirely broad-shouldered, you have to squeeze your arms in close to your body if you want to type while sitting in it.
This was an unusual lead sentence but not one without legs.
After watching the season one finale of Dexter, New Blood, I came away largely dissatisfied. Please don’t read any further if you have not seen the latest Dexter reboot as this is your official spoiler alert.
Dexter, for all intents and purposes appears very much dead.
That’s right. I said dead.
I don’t know if there will be a second season.
How could there be?
If the principal character and series namesake has indeed left the planet, what could a show featuring his son do for hardcore fans in terms of satiating their interest in this poor idea of a series continuation?
The answer to that is nothing.
Dexter needs to awake from a dream or better yet, have them do something that prevents his passing from happening in the first place.
I was reminded by someone earlier that the “code” precludes Dexter killing a cop.
I didn’t remember that from the first series.
Angel Battista was scheduled to be in Iron Lake the next morning. He had talked with the chief of police, Angela, the night before regarding Dexter and the Bay Harbor butcher.
Couldn’t they write something where Dexter is maybe instead of waking up from dreaming, perhaps he’s coming out of a bad daydream?
That would be more plausible and the audience wouldn’t feel cheated like they have been by regular dream sequences of characters supposedly dead.
Dexter is always day dreaming anyway.
He thinks of clever retorts and just doesn’t say them out loud.
Surely, it would be believable if he came out of an extended day dream where he gets shot by Harrison and utters something along the lines of, “The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Dexter is a great character and the original series was compelling, well-written, and with good acting.
You became invested with all the characters.
There is a dreamlike feel to Dexter New Blood overall. The fact Deb is involved with each episode (she speaks to Dexter, trying to influence how he’ll respond or what he’ll do next by barking at him like she used to do when she was alive in the first series).
The dead have always featured prominently in both series.
Dexter’s rebirth as it were in season two of New Blood, would not be that big a leap of faith for die-hard fans.
Right now the series looks to be either over or at a standstill.
Can Harrison and Dead Deb be joined by Dead Dexter as Harrison’s dark passenger in a season two of new blood?
I, for one would not like to see this scenario.
Too many dead people talking to a lone, alive character is too much along the lines of a fantasy novel, and not a real-life vigilante killer’s life and actions.
Do the right thing series’ creators.
Hire the right writers if need be. See what I did there?
Hell, I’d even come aboard if they wanted.
