I have found the best way to cool off a hot head is to shave it entirely. Yeah, sometimes slight itching contributes to the head feeling hot, but once you brush off the excess hair, you’re in like Flynn.
Now that you know what I think is the best way to cool off a hot head, here are some other ways to cool off the hot heads in your life so that everyone feels as cool as possible.
Get yourself an ice cream
Everyone likes ice cream. It just brings out the fun every time you indulge. I used to eat ice cream almost daily, but I haven’t had but a few servings over the last year and a half.
Has my life been lacking in fun since that time? I’d have to say not. Remember, my hot head is a non-starter due to my regularly shaving it. So, while ice cream would still make me smile, personally, it’s just something that I leave out of my diet altogether. However, everyone else should feel free to make this one of their go-to ways to cool off their hot heads if they’re not interested in shaving. Also, I’ve heard Italian ices are an excellent alternative to ice cream for hot head treatment.
Stick your head in the freezer
The head-in-the-freezer technique is pure gold. It is one of the easiest ways to keep a hot head from prevailing. Open the freezer compartment door and insert said head. It’s genius, I know, and you’re altogether very welcome for this oldie but goodie.
One thing to consider for obvious reasons is to limit the number of times you open the freezer door. Some hot heads end up contributing to a lack of ice in their ice makers by practicing frequent intervals of freezer compartment salvation.
Sit in front of a box fan or window air conditioner
I can tell you that the box fan solution is time-tested. Get out the box fan from storage or wherever you keep it, plug it in, get yourself a folding or lawn chair, and plop that booty right on down. People should bust this move every chance they have. I think you had to manually spin box fans before the invention of electricity, which might have contributed to hot heads occurring, but I digress.
Now, the window air conditioner is also a very tried and true way to keep hotheads from prevailing. Please make sure you practice proper safety precautions and use a grounded outlet. This cautionary advice is mainly for those of you who live in old houses. If your outlet is grounded, go ahead and turn on the window air conditioner. You can use a folding or lawn chair like the box fan solution, but I recommend getting a cot, bed, or couch to lay down, stretch yourself out in the same room with the window air conditioner.
Cold hands head massage
This one is enjoyable. I recommend you try it after shaving your head for optimal results. I believe there are many variations, but what I think works best is to go ahead and shave your head first. Then ask your significant other or a close friend to wash their hands in soap and cold water. I understand cold water may not address germs as well as warm or slightly hot water. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and have the person wash their hands in warm water and soap first. That way, they can work their hands vigorously in cold running water before placing their hands on your hot, bald head.
Some have said the cold hands-head message is the best. I think if you’re combining it with head shaving, then it’s the best of both worlds.
Finally, if you’ve made it this far, the top way to prevent a hot head is to try and stay calm at all times. No matter how hot it is outside, keep smiling. That may help keep your head cool.
If not, try anger management or a meditation class. While it’s never worked for me, meditation in front of a box fan with a cool drink of water may be just the ticket the next time I try some mantras.
