It was another one of those weekends where if you were like me, you thought two days would be enough. It was not.

It was also the weekend of no more football.

I guess we can look forward to whatever league will be trying to sell us football while the NFL takes off for the week before Super Bowl.

I used to watch the Pro Bowl, but I haven’t in years. I don’t even know if it’s still around and don’t care to investigate. However, when Hawaii hosted it, it took my mind off winter’s cold.

We have blue skies today, and that helped melt some of the snow that had fallen into the ice sheets that resided under the snow.

Mother Nature must be in cahoots with Orthopedic surgeons as it sure is slippery to walk on sidewalks in this state.

Our dogs had no such issue with the slick conditions.

However, my better half and I occasionally took short rides on the ice, but fortunately, no one was injured.

On the contrary, walking on ice is a lot like walking on eggshells, so it’s a workout that makes you squeeze your abs, or at least that’s what it did to me.

I know the NHL is playing games. The problem for me is I got away from it—the same thing with basketball. So my sports-watching became mostly MLB and the NFL.

You only have to go the month of March not to have at least one of those leagues available for viewing or attending a regular season game.

It’s been enough for me, too, watching just baseball and football.

Fridge segue

We paid to have the fridge’s water valve replaced to have water coming out of the appliance’s dispenser.

It turns out today it stopped flowing again.

Skelley consulting (my better half and I) immediately discussed our problem.

We decided to take a shot at replacing the old line that went from the turn-off valve in the basement to the back of the fridge’s water valve.

Part of our thinking went something like, “Honey, perhaps the hose has sediment buildup.”

After a trip to Home Depot, I hooked up the new line.

Bam!

Water was flowing again, and it was a mighty stream.

Sometimes, you get lucky and can save a buck on home appliance repairs if you manage yourself.

I had already paid a pretty sum for the guy to replace the fridge’s water valve. And, to be fair, that was something that might have lasted a little longer if not replaced, but the refrigerator is eight years old. So it was bound to be something that went on it next.

A few years back, my better half and I repaired the icemaker on the same fridge.

They don’t make them like they used to, I guess.

While we paid to have a repair guy come out to look and eventually replace the fridge’s water valve, we decided to try replacing the icemaker/water dispenser line, which pleasantly worked out.

Now we see how long it lasts. Of course, I want to get several more years out of the fridge, but it’s always a wait-and-see attitude you have to take.

All because they don’t make them like they used to.

It’s nice to have better-flowing filtered water again.

The blues end

I’d like for the MLB lockout not to linger.

Fans may never come back if it does

The NFL added a 17th regular-season game this year.

In February, we will still have that gap of no regular-season MLB or NFL games to watch.

I’m going to hope for more three-day weekends to stomach the less-than-NFL football games that will be on while both the NFL and MLB are on sabbatical.
