There is nothing like a spring day a little over two weeks before the actual first day of spring.

It reminds us of all the pleasant weather chores we enjoy, like mowing the lawn, weeding, scooping poop, and working on computers.

I prefer the season of spring for working on computers outdoors.

It’s usually not too hot and not bitter cold, although it can be both. Such is the weather.

I like fast computers and computers don’t get fast on their own.

They typically bog down over time, some more than others.

There are things you can do performance-wise for PCs, including running regular malware and virus scans.

Macs are a different beast unto themselves; you pretty much set it and forget it with Macs.

We had a power outage a couple of weeks ago which knocked offline all of the computers.

The Mac rebooted on its own when the power came back on.

The PCs did not resume until I turned them all back on for the first time since the power outage occurred.

Yes, I had to invoke updates for all of them, including those PCs running Linux variants not named Omicron.

I know you saw what I just did with the word variants concerning the Linux operating systems.

Anyway, I decided that the most powerful computer I have is the Mac Mini which is eight years old but still runs Apple’s latest and greatest macOS. It is also the most convenient as it automatically keeps itself up to date by running any macOS updates during the hours I’m not using the machine.

Macs feel familiar, and they feel right.

It just seems meant to be that my two old PCs running Windows 10 are currently updating while I’m writing this on the Mac.

I heard Windows 11 is fantastic, but it won’t run on my old rigs without tweaking, which I frankly have no time for whatsoever.

I’m more than satisfied with Windows 10 on both old Core 2 Duos; it runs fine on both desktop computers.

However, both PCs do not run as fast as they used to. I could put a fresh installation of Windows 10 on each of them, but again, and frankly, there is no longer enough time available in my day to do so.

Other stuff

I am going to see Elton John. He’s doing his farewell tour. His music was a fixture on the radio when I was growing up. I like quite a bit of his music, penned mainly by Bernie Taupin.

I’m glad I’ll finally be able to see John, but I know it will be bittersweet as it is yet one more reminder of our mortality.

I suppose I’m good with aging and the thought of my eventual demise.

What else can you do but go with it, right?

Most of us like to be in charge of our lives, but certain things are more significant than all of us.

Taking each day as it comes seems to be one of the best ways to practice self-care.

We’ve reached the word count mark.

It was easy.

I accomplished it on a Mac.
